start of block leave! my block leave had unofficially started before my guard duty. feeling the effects of irregular sleep already, doubt im going to last the afternoon. i've not made any big plans for this 2 weeks but i seriously hope i make full use of such precious civilian time, especially when they come in long breaks. i anticipate more movies eating pool random activities ; all sound fine to me. off the tangent, i was made to escort this 40-something malay dude to the barber in my camp yesterday. the rp was suspicious of this random dude with an equally random agenda and quite rightly so given that the dude was well above the average age of a national serviceman. no matter i did escort him to the barber in the end. turns out he really was here for a haircut from the barber, who was also the same barber who snip his hair away 20 odd years ago when Uncle Noor (the random malay dude) was CPL Noor, storeman of 5 SIR. apparently they've been best buds/hardcore rockers/sepak takraw kahkis since then. i was quite taken aback by this out-of-the-blue discovery of a friendship that has lasted 2 marriages and 8 kids between them. however what left an impression on me was how smoooth Uncle Noor was. 10 mins into the conversation and he was air guitar-ing to some HARDCORE ROCK MUSIC, taking breaks in between for puffs off his cigarette. it was a worthy 1/2 hour for me. at the end of the day, just keep everything smooth and all will turn out alright. off the tangent once again, i sure as hell cant believe how i managed to drag myself into the cinema to watch Alvin and The Chipmunks. ever since the trailers premiered in the cinemas, i would always tell myself i'd never catch it. but in the unfortunate twist of events there i was, 8th row from the front in cinema 5 at GV Marina watching the above. agonizing. seriously agonizing. the songs were bearable but the movie was just....agonizing. at pacific coffee |
