fear the greatest fear anyone could have would be fear itself. yea i know what you're thinking;so cheesy. still, it does hold more truth than fiction. but that's not what i wanted to talk about today. i was thinking what i feared the most the other day, and apparently death doesnt pose such a threat to me as of yet. i do get the chills when i imagine life after death though. it's like you're sleeping...forever.never waking up, never having another dream/nightmare. even when you're asleep, you're not really aware of that, so death may just be an eternal slumber for all you know(of cos here i'm assuming everyone dies a painless death). instead, what i really fear the most... is to be replaced. everyone is telling you that you're unique in your own special way, and with globalisation reaching far corners of the world rapidly, everyone is desperately trying hard to personalise themselves. it's all about how you sell yourself to others around you, rather than what you can offer. of course you must have that bit of substance to start somewhere, but the way you present youself makes all the difference. sometimes it's just not what you say, but how you say what you say that matters. u could be talking a load of rubbish abt how joakim got his ass kicked out of SI, but if you could sensationalise the entire matter and make it seem like the world depended on it, that an apocalypse would arise as a result, people will be interested even in such an insignificant matter.body language is important as well. now i dont know why i'm babbling so much about this so let's move on..... ok, back to my fear of being replaced. i know we are all different in many ways. alvin is a mean thinking machine. mexcel knows 101 ways to protect himself in the army. han long knows as much about solving the MI of a disc as he does about life and its evils. shaun could close BOTH eyes and still tell you arsenal's line-up. gian seng could run as many laps as i eat my pringles. so if you have something or can perform a function that others are unable to replicate or even emulate, does it mean that you cannot be replaced? honestly, i dont think so. it isn't so much what you can do, but whether others even bother to recognise your 'talents' in the first place. you could be able to solve any mathematical equation thrown at you, but if what the other party wants is someone who can whip up a srumptious plate of spaghetti, your 'talents' would be deemed redundant then. it all boils down to whether you can satisfy his/her needs in the long-term. some of us may improve, upgrade, spruce up for all we can, but there will always be things beyond our reach, desires impossible to fulfill. so why should we work so hard for? we all know that effort never did equate to reults, sometimes they observe an inverse proportionality function. yet some of us are still at it day and night, banking all our blood and sweat and tears into our goals, even a glimmer of hope may seem like a blinding ray. i'm a cynic, it's how i was brought up to be. i'm not pessimistic; just realistic. it's very easy for someone else to say 'dont give up. you've done so much to admit defeat now'. it's even easier for them to praise you for your efforts. yet it will be impossible for them to truly recognise your efforts. you can only imagine how the victim feels, but unless you're in his/her shoes, you can never say 'i know how you feel'. that's why i know at the end of day, people may have given you all the advice you could utilise, all the support you could render from, but it really is just about you. only you can solve your own problems. it does seem like the world thrive on self-centredness, but it's a sad fact of life. people are saying dont live your life for others, but there'll definitely be a time when your happiness overlaps other's displeasures. what do you do then? i was going to talk about peer pressure as well, its detrimental effects and whatsoever. however due to many constraints i'll just let the picture speak my thousand words. ![]() we all need to believe more. |
